The Scientific Steering Committee plays a pivotal role in advancing the mission of the PALISI Network by diligently overseeing and reviewing protocols, and grants, and distributing surveys. Comprising a diverse group of experts and professionals, our committee is committed to ensuring the highest standards of scientific integrity and excellence. Through their rigorous evaluation processes, they contribute to the development and enhancement of research initiatives within the PALISI Network. Beyond their critical role in research oversight, the committee also dedicates itself to providing unwavering support to our members, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and impactful contributions to the field. With a shared commitment to advancing pediatric research, the Scientific Steering Committee stands as a cornerstone in our efforts to improve the health and well-being of children worldwide.

"The Scientific Steering Committee shall be a permanent committee of the PALISI Network. The purpose of the Scientific Steering Committee is to offer a scientific review of grant proposals, new ideas, surveys, and manuscripts submitted by PALISI members. The Chair of the Scientific Steering Committee and a Vice-Chair will be nominated by the Executive Committee Chair, from the Scientific Steering Committee members elected by the membership at large every three years. Members of the Scientific Steering Committee shall include the Chair of each approved PALISI subgroup. Three additional Scientific Steering Committee members will be elected from the membership-at-large in conjunction with the regular election of EC members. Scientific Steering Committee members serve three-year terms and are eligible for re-election for a total of two consecutive terms. The Scientific Steering Committee Chair and Vice-Chair may appoint temporary ad hoc members of the Scientific Steering Committee as needed for the review of proposals or manuscripts for which they have special expertise." - PALISI Network Bylaws


Survey Review Requirements

Please read this important information before submitting your survey request. All required materials and dissemination guidelines are outlined below to help ensure timely review and distribution.​

To request PALISI survey distribution, please provide the following:
1. Required Documents

Copy of IRB protocol and IRB approval

Copy of or direct link to the survey

Survey must be designed to take approximately 10 minutes or less to complete

2. Target Population Details
Please specify:

Geographic scope: U.S., North America, or International
-
Audience type: MD-only or MD plus other levels of caregivers

3. Draft Invitation Email (Cover Letter)
Include a draft of the email that will be sent to invite participation. This should include:

General description of the survey topic
-
Estimated time to complete
-
Whether responses are anonymous
-
Defined target population
-
Whether the survey may be shared or tweeted
-
Your contact information for participant questions

4. Additional Information

Name of mentor (required if the survey is submitted by a fellow)
Important Limitation: We cannot provide the total number of individuals who receive the survey email. The mailing list contains duplicates and outdated addresses, so a response rate cannot be calculated.

Survey Dissemination Process
1. If your survey request is approved:

The survey invitation will be emailed to PALISI members
-
One reminder email will be sent approximately two weeks later
​
2. If permitted by your site’s IRB, we can also:

Share a survey invitation on PALISI social media (please provide the proposed tweet text)

Post the survey link on the PALISI website
-
Include the survey invitation in the PALISI newsletter following the initial email distribution
​
3. Investigator Responsibility

Investigators are required to present survey results in a 5-minute presentation at an upcoming PALISI meeting.
