Survey: Current PICU Providers’ Opinions About PICU-related Sleep and Circadian Dysregulation (PICU-SCD)
Dear pediatric critical care provider or researcher,
If you actively provide patient care or perform research in a PICU in the United States, you are invited to participate in an online survey study entitled “Pediatric Critical Care Provider opinions on Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Related Sleep and Circadian Dysregulation (PICU-SCD)”.
While adult ICUs are using sleep promotion bundles to improve morbidity and mortality, there is less experience with describing and protecting the sleep of critically ill children. This study is intended to determine what clinicians think about this aspect of PICU care and if there is interest in studying it. The information you provide could inform future research in this area.
The survey consists of questions associated with your demographic information and your opinions about PICU-SCD. It should take no more than 10 minutes to complete the survey.
Your participation in this study is completely voluntary, you may decline to answer any questions and are free to withdraw at any time. Refusal to participate in this survey will not affect you, your employment nor your rights as a clinician.
This study has been approved by the Institutional Review Board of the University at Buffalo. This study is being conducted by Dr. Amanda Hassinger, an attending physician in the Division of Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine at Golisano Children’s Hospital in Buffalo, NY and Dr. Neelima Marupudi, an attending physician in the Department of Child Health at the University of Arizona, Banner Children’s Hospital.
There is minimum risk associated with participation in this study. You may skip any question or cease your participation at any time if you experience stress. The survey collects no identifying information and all of the responses are recorded anonymously. While you will not experience any direct benefits from participation, your involvement could help understand the current pediatric critical care opinions regarding sleep assessment and promotion in critically ill children. Your participation is greatly appreciated.
If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Amanda Hassinger at ahassinger@upa.chob.edu. If you have any concerns about your rights as a research participant, please contact the University Buffalo IRB at 716-888-4888 or UB-irb@buffalo.edu.
By completing and submitting this survey, you are indicating your consent to participate. If you do not have interest in this survey, you need not take any action just ignore this invitation.
