Membership Advisory Board – Call for Volunteers - Due March 31

PALISI leadership is establishing a Membership Advisory Board (MAB) to expand upon the current role of the Venue Subcommittee. The Executive Committee and leadership recognize that member needs extend beyond meeting locations and venues, and we seek broader input to better serve our membership.

We invite PALISI members to volunteer to serve on the Membership Advisory Board.

The MAB will function as an advisory body to the PALISI Executive Committee, with responsibilities that may include (but are not limited to):

  1. Providing recommendations on meeting venues and locations

  2. Advising on membership benefits and costs

  3. Contributing to organizational strategic planning

  4. Serving as a “membership temperature check” or common-sense review for Executive Committee decisions

  5. Identifying unmet needs among PALISI members

The Membership Advisory Board will meet virtually at least quarterly (four times per year), with additional asynchronous communication via email as needed.

Board membership will be determined by the Executive Committee, with an emphasis on diversity and inclusiveness across career stages (junior, mid-career, senior) and disciplines. Eligibility requires active PALISI membership and in-person attendance at a minimum of three PALISI meetings within the past three years.

If you are interested, please submit your application here Member Advisory Board | PALISI Network by March 31, 2026.

We encourage members from all backgrounds and career stages to apply and look forward to your participation.

Survey - Short-acting Sedatives for Extubation in Children

Dear Colleague,

We are interested in describing the current use of short-acting sedatives for the extubation of children in intensive care units. The PALISI Network Executive Summary: International Clinical Practice Guidelines for Pediatric Ventilation Liberation recommended "a targeted sedation management strategy using a validated, reliable tool to set sedation targets". However, data on pediatric-specific sedative use in the peri-extubation period is limited.

We hope that obtaining more information about providers' current practices will allow us to identify how best to perform future clinical studies to improve rates of unplanned extubations and extubation failures.

Participation in this study will be limited to this survey. The survey should not take more than 10 minutes of your time. Your completion of the survey implies your voluntary consent to participate in this research, which has been approved by the Rutgers University Institutional Review Board. Findings will only include aggregate responses. Responses will not be linked to specific participants or institutions.

If you have questions or concerns about the survey, please contact Cassandra Louis via email at louiscl@rwjms.rutgers.edu

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Cassandra Louis
