Dear Members of PALISI,

We are conducting a cross-sectional study (University at Buffalo IRB #STUDY00010355) to map how different specialties weigh clinical data and neurodiagnostics when generating a prognosis for children with severe acute brain injury. We invite currently practicing US pediatric critical care physicians and fellows to participate in this collaborative effort between pediatric critical care and child neurology.

The study involves a one-time, anonymous electronic survey consisting of three clinical vignettes. It takes approximately 10–15 minutes to complete.

Participation is voluntary and strictly anonymous—no personal identifiers (names, emails, or IP addresses) are collected. While there is no direct benefit, your expertise will help identify areas for educational improvement and standardization of care in pediatric neurocritical care. The survey is open until June 5, 2026. Thank you for your time and contribution to this research.

Sincerely,

Sandhya Joshi, MD Pediatric Critical Care Fellow, PGY-7 University at Buffalo

Maria Wang, MD Child Neurology Resident, PGY-4 University at Buffalo

and on behalf of Jacob Anderson, MD (Pediatric Critical Care/Neurocritical Care, University at Buffalo) and Osman Farooq, MD (Child Neurology/Epilepsy, University at Buffalo)
