Membership Management on Morweb – Site credits have been reset to zero!

As the last PALISI meeting in academic year 2026 has now come to a close, and the year itself only has a couple more months in it, we have completed our preparation for the start of AY2027.

  1. All site credits have been reset to zero for the new year AY27.

  2. Your site’s records remain visible to each site’s lead administrator. (They should also be able to see the reset in credits to zero that occurred on 5/4/2026.)

  3. If you do not know who your administrator is (the Morweb portal should report to you who it is), or you need help changing that role to a new person, please be in touch.

  4. Credits for AY27 are now available for purchase on the Morweb portal. For anyone with residual department/division funds from AY2026, you may now spend them on credits for AY2027.

If you have any questions about PALISI financial processes, please don’t hesitate to email admin@palisi.org. We will still be in touch about prior unpaid invoices from AY2026, so please do your best to help us get those paid as soon as possible.

The Comment Opportunity and Period That Could Define Federal Research

In the end of May, the Office of Management and Budget published a proposal that would allow political appointees without scientific backgrounds to block federally funded research, including federally funded investigations that are already ongoing if it is perceived that the grant is funding “unlawful DEI activities.” There is a current open comment period, which ends on July 13.

The PALISI executive committee feels that the most impactful way to respond would be through voluminous, individual responses. Please the detail below which includes templates on how to structure your comment.

1. Be specific. Name the section of the rule you are commenting on (the rule asks commenters to begin with the relevant section number in brackets, e.g., [200.205]).

2. Ground it in your experience. Describe the actual impact on your work, your institution, or your field. How would the pre-issuance review process affect the research you do? What would the DEI certification requirement mean for your institution’s compliance posture? Regulators are required to respond to substantive comments so make yours substantive.

3. Focus on a few provisions. The rule is long. Comments that address a small number of provisions with real depth are more useful than broad denunciations. Priority targets: Section 200.205 (merit review and pre-issuance review), Section 200.218 (unlawful DEI provision), Section 200.300 (national policy conditions).

4. Be factual and professional. Comments that read like advocacy documents are easier to dismiss. The goal is to build a record. Describe the problem, cite the specific regulatory text, explain the harm, and propose an alternative or modification.

Where to submit comments

All comments must be submitted electronically at:

Search for Docket OMB–2026–0034. Begin each comment with the relevant section number in brackets.
