PALISI Spring 2025 Wrap Up

Thank you for participating our PALISI Spring 2025 meeting at Santa Fe, New Mexico. We had great presentations and discussions covering all of the pediatric critical care arena. Keynote presentations on human factors triggered many research ideas and clinical practice changes. We had a well-attended Clinical Research Course followed by superb presentations by two distinct junior investigators (Drs. Megan McSherry and Viktorya Tannenbaum)! Congratulations on Dr. Simon Li’s contribution to clinical research course over the years.

CDC Pediatric Influenza-Associated Encephalopathy/Encephalitis Surveillance

The Section on Critical Care SOCC of the American Academy of Pediatrics has shared this information on CDC surveillance of Pediatric Influenza-Associated Encephalopathy/Encephalitis We thought it might be of interest to those doing research in this area.

Please note, this is NOT part of the PICFlu initiative.

The CDC has just opened an investigation into reports of pediatric influenza-associated encephalopathy and encephalitis, including acute necrotizing encephalopathy (ANE). This is public health surveillance. Please report your cases to the CDC even if you have reported the cases to your local public health department.  Feel free to share the information below broadly across pediatric ID, neurology and critical care networks.

Membership Management on Morweb – Clearing Site Credit Histories

As the last PALISI meeting in academic year 2025 has now come to a close, and the year itself only has a few more months in it, we are currently in planning for the start of AY2026. At that time each site’s history in Morweb will be cleared, and all site credits will be reset to zero for the new year AY26. We will, of course, retain all records for prior years even though they will no longer be visible on Morweb. Although the newly purchased credits won’t be able to be used until the September meeting, we will open the ability to purchase AY2026 site credits as of June 1, 2025. This way, those of you with available department/divison funds from AY2025 can spend them on credits for AY2026.

If you have any questions about PALISI financial processes, please don’t hesitate to email admin@palisi.org. We will still be in touch about prior unpaid invoices from AY2025, so please do your best to help us get those paid as soon as possible.
